Islamabad, Pakistan – The Pakistani military announced today that 34 militants were killed in two separate security operations in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces.
These operations are part of a broader campaign to pursue extremist elements and dismantle centers of violence along the country’s western border.
A statement issued by the military’s media wing explained that the first operation was conducted in tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
This operation targeted locations suspected of being used as safe havens for militants operating across the border with Afghanistan.
The operations resulted in the deaths of several militants and the seizure of weapons and ammunition.
Pakistan… and attempts to destabilize it
In a simultaneous operation in Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan,
security forces raided hideouts of militant groups involved in previous attacks targeting the army and infrastructure.
This resulted in the deaths of additional militants, bringing the total number killed in the two operations to 34.
Authorities confirmed that the operations were based on precise intelligence.
They also emphasized the continuation of security efforts to clear troubled areas
and prevent any attempts to destabilize the country, especially given the escalation of attacks in recent weeks.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are among the most sensitive regions in Pakistan in terms of security.
Militant groups are active in these provinces, targeting government forces and infrastructure projects.
Furthermore, the complex geography and border regions of the area make counterterrorism efforts more difficult.
