Muscat, Oman – Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi confirmed on Sunday that a new round of talks between the United States and Iran will be held in Geneva next Thursday.
Al-Busaidi, whose country has been mediating the dialogue between the two sides, told the X platform that the talks provide “a positive impetus to make further efforts to finalize the agreement.” He also emphasized the importance of continued coordination and efforts to ensure the success of the nuclear negotiations.
Oman’s mediating role
The Sultanate of Oman is a key player in facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran. It has also contributed to facilitating previous rounds of negotiations and provided a safe environment for meetings between officials from both sides.
Regional context
This round of talks comes as both sides continue to seek to overcome outstanding differences over Iran’s nuclear program. The international community is closely monitoring developments, with military and political options remaining on the table should the dialogue fail.
