Tel Aviv, Israel – Former Israeli Air Force Commander, Eitan Ben Eliyahu, stated that the massive American military buildup currently taking place in the region represents a strategic “pressure tool” within the course of negotiations.
He stressed that readiness for an attack has reached its peak in the event that diplomatic solutions reach a dead end.
Messages of deterrence
Ben-Eliyahu clarified that the increased military presence does not necessarily mean an imminent full-scale confrontation “tomorrow morning,”
but rather aims to strengthen the negotiating position against Tehran.
He added, “This deployment should be viewed as part of a pressure tactic; if negotiations fail, everything is ready to move to the military option.”
Trump throws his military weight
In a related context, US President Donald Trump threw his full military weight into the Middle East region.
Reports carried by Fox News, citing sources in the Pentagon, revealed details of a deployment that is the largest of its kind.
There is a rare presence of two giant aircraft carriers at the same time (USS Gerald R. Ford and USS Abraham Lincoln).
Furthermore, F-35 stealth fighters and F/A-18 attack aircraft are capable of targeting dozens of Iranian nuclear and military sites.
Along with destroyers and missile defense systems stretching from the Arabian Gulf to the Red
and Mediterranean Seas, they reflect a state of “calculated pressure” on Tehran during the indirect nuclear talks.
This keeps all options open in the strategic decision-making process.
This mobilization, extending from the Caribbean to the heart of the Middle East, demonstrates this strategy of “calculated pressure.”
