London, Britain– In a dramatic development that shakes the foundations of the British monarchy, police arrested Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, brother of King Charles III, on suspicion of committing legal offenses while holding an official position. This comes amid the ongoing fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein sex offender scandal.
Details of the detention and searches
Security authorities have confirmed that the former prince is currently in custody, with police officers executing search warrants at two locations linked to him in the UK. The most prominent of these was his residence at Wood Farm, part of the Sandringham estate in Norfolk.
These legal actions follow a formal complaint filed with Thames Valley Police by the anti-monarchy group Republic. The complaint accuses Andrew of leaking confidential material to Epstein.
According to documents seen by the BBC, he shared confidential information related to his official duties as a UK trade envoy. The misconduct is believed to have occurred in 2010 and 2011.
The information was given to Jeffrey Epstein with Andrew’s prior knowledge of its confidential nature.
Legal and protocol status
Andrew has not yet been formally charged with a crime, as his arrest is part of a legal investigation. He continues to deny any wrongdoing.
Note: Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor previously lost all his royal and official titles following the revelations in the Epstein case. This stripped him of his diplomatic immunity and allowed police to search his properties and private residences.
Andrew had recently moved from his Windsor home to the Sandringham estate in Norfolk while renovations were completed on his permanent residence. He was taken by surprise by today’s arrest.
