Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, met with His Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, Chairperson of the African Union Commission, on the sidelines of the 39th Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.
Exploring ways to develop the partnership
The meeting addressed existing cooperation between the UAE and the African Union, and ways to enhance it across various areas of mutual interest, thereby strengthening the strategic partnership between the two sides and supporting development and stability efforts in Africa.
During the meeting, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission affirmed the Union’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with the UAE, particularly in the areas of peace, security, and stability, and commended the UAE’s supportive role in development and humanitarian initiatives in Africa.
Supporting security and stability efforts
This meeting comes within the framework of ongoing coordination between the two sides and the UAE’s commitment to strengthening its relations with African Union institutions, contributing to supporting regional stability and enhancing joint efforts to address current challenges.
The discussions reflect the depth of relations between the UAE and the African Union and the aspiration to expand cooperation to serve the interests of member states and support efforts to establish peace and achieve sustainable development on the continent.
