Kyiv, Ukraine – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that repair and rescue teams have been working since last night at the sites of Russian airstrikes targeting several Ukrainian cities. Zelenskyy explained that the attack involved 219 attack drones, mostly of the Shahed type. In addition, the attack included the launch of 25 missiles, 24 of which were ballistic. He confirmed that most of these attacks were successfully intercepted. However, some drones and missiles hit their targets. The Ukrainian president noted that the attack resulted in two deaths and more than ten injuries. The primary targets of the attack were energy infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa, and Dnipro, including power plants and substations. Damage was also reported in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Kyiv, and Kherson regions. In Kramatorsk, a drone struck a building belonging to the State Emergency Service.

Zelenskyy stated that the situation in the capital is difficult, with many buildings still without heating. He emphasized the need to strengthen the protection of lives from these attacks. He affirmed that Patriot air defense systems are the most effective against Russian ballistic missiles and called for the daily provision of the necessary missiles for these systems. The Ukrainian president expressed his gratitude to all countries contributing to the PURL initiative and stressed the importance of expediting the delivery of all available equipment to bolster the country’s air defenses.
