Baghdad, Iraq – The Iraqi Army Chief of Staff affirmed that protecting and securing the national borders is a top strategic priority for the armed forces. He emphasized that Iraq is determined to prevent any external threats or armed smuggling operations that could jeopardize the country’s security and stability.

This came during an inspection visit to several key border points. In this context, he stressed the need to enhance combat readiness and maintain continuous coordination among all military and security sectors. This aims to ensure strict monitoring of land borders, rivers, and vital waterways.

The Chief of Staff indicated that the Iraqi armed forces will not tolerate any violations or infiltration attempts. He also affirmed that developing surveillance systems and modern military technology is part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen security control and protect civilians and public property.

Officials also called for intensified regional cooperation with neighboring countries to exchange intelligence and counter cross-border threats. They considered this coordination a fundamental pillar for the stability of Iraq and the security of the entire region. He emphasized that full adherence to international law and human rights remains an integral part of the armed forces’ operations. This ensures that security efforts are effective and balanced. Consequently, these efforts contribute to building citizens’ trust in the armed forces and their vital national role.
