Moscow, Russia – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that the United States does not support the idea of deploying European troops inside Ukrainian territory. He indicated that this stance reflects an American awareness of the sensitivity of military escalation and the potential for expanding the scope of the confrontation with Russia.
In statements carried by Russian media, Lavrov explained that Moscow is closely monitoring Western discussions regarding strengthening the military presence in Ukraine. He asserted that any move to deploy foreign forces could complicate the security situation and increase the risk of direct escalation.
He noted that some European countries are proposing ideas for a broader military role in Ukraine, but the American position, as he put it, appears more cautious at this stage. The Americans are focusing on logistical and arms support without direct involvement of ground troops.
Observers believe that Lavrov’s statements are part of the media and political warfare accompanying the conflict. This is especially relevant given the ongoing debate within NATO regarding the limits of military support for Kyiv. The alliance is also seeking to avoid any actions that could be interpreted as a direct confrontation with Moscow. These developments come at a time when the military fronts are experiencing a state of mutual attrition. Meanwhile, international diplomatic efforts continue to find political solutions. These efforts may pave the way for a possible de-escalation in the future.
