Delhi, India – Indian company Adani Enterprises announced on Tuesday that it is cooperating with US authorities in an investigation into potential violations of sanctions against Iran. This announcement followed media reports suggesting the company may have imported Iranian petroleum products, including liquefied natural gas (LNG), through the Mundra port.
The company said in a statement that the U.S. Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sent it a “request for information” last week. It asserted that it did not knowingly engage in sanctions evasion and that the shipments were conducted as part of normal business transactions through third-party logistics partners, with the shipment originating from Oman. The Wall Street Journal reported last June that U.S. prosecutors were investigating the importation of Iranian liquefied natural gas by entities affiliated with the Adani Group, including examining several oil tankers used in the transport.
