Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army announced the thwarting of a drug smuggling attempt on Saturday evening. This came after the detection and downing of a drone that attempted to penetrate Jordanian airspace via the western border of the Southern Military Zone. A responsible military source at the General Command of the Armed Forces stated that border guards, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected the drone as it attempted to infiltrate Jordanian territory illegally.
The source explained that the established rules of engagement were immediately applied, resulting in the downing of the drone within the Kingdom’s borders without any injuries. He added that specialized teams inspected the crash site. Quantities of narcotics were found inside the drone, and the seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
