Bern, Switzerland – The draw for the Champions League round of 16 play-offs has produced some heavyweight clashes, headlined by Real Madrid’s renewed encounter with Benfica of Portugal, along with a tough match between Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain.
It is worth noting that Real Madrid had lost to Benfica, a few days earlier, by four goals to two, in the final round of the Champions League group stage.
The draw for the round of 16 play-offs of the UEFA Champions League was held today, Friday, by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
Eight teams qualified directly for the round of 16 of the Champions League this season, after occupying the top eight positions in the league stage, while the teams that finished from ninth to twenty-fourth place obtained tickets to the play-off stage.
The play-off matches will be played on a home-and-away basis, with 8 other teams joining the qualifiers for the round of 16.
