Washington, DC – The military affairs website Warzone has revealed new movements by the US Air Force. These movements consist of a group of F-35A fifth-generation fighter jets being deployed to Europe. This move has raised questions about their final destination and military objectives. The website explained that the final destination of these aircraft has not yet been officially announced. However, there are strong indications that they will eventually head to the Middle East. This possibility has become particularly prominent given the escalating regional tensions related to Iran.
The website based its analysis on videos and photos circulating on social media. These materials show several F-35A fighter jets landing at Lajes Air Base in Portugal. This indicates that they are undergoing a redeployment as part of a broader operational plan.
The fighter jets were previously stationed in Puerto Rico. They were deployed there as part of US military preparations related to developments in Venezuela. They were then recently transferred to the European theater.
The US military buildup wasn’t limited to F-35A fighter jets. Recently, F/A-18G fighters also took off for Spain. This reinforces expectations of a strengthened US air presence in southern Europe and surrounding regions. This deployment follows significant operational precedents. F-35A fighters played a pivotal role in disabling Iranian air defense systems during the US strike in June 2015, highlighting their importance in any potential future military scenario.
In a related political context, US President Donald Trump stated on January 22 that US Navy ships were moving toward Iran. However, he refrained from confirming whether the military option remained on the table, simply saying that he could not predict what the future held. Trump had previously pledged support for the protesters in Iran and warned Iranian authorities of severe consequences should they resort to violent repression against the demonstrators. This statement thus adds a new political dimension to the ongoing military escalation in the region.
