Chinese state media reported that Defense Minister Dong Jun told his Russian counterpart, Andrei Belousov, during a video conference, that Beijing is prepared to work with Moscow to deepen strategic coordination. Moreover, China aims to expand areas of military cooperation and enhance their joint ability to address regional and international security challenges.

Xinhua News Agency quoted Dong Jun as saying that China and Russia, through close cooperation, can translate the important consensus reached by the two countries’ leaders into tangible results. This can be done by developing mechanisms for exchanging expertise and information and strengthening communication channels between their militaries.
The Chinese Defense Minister added that the current stage requires strengthening the defense partnership between Beijing and Moscow.
He said this is necessary in light of the rapid transformations in the international system and the increasing hotspots of tension in a number of regions.
He also noted that coordination between the two countries contributes to supporting global strategic stability
and enhances the concept of collective security based on respect for the sovereignty of states.
