Tel Aviv, Israel – A former Mossad official predicted that the Iranian regime is headed for collapse by the end of US President Donald Trump’s term. He believes the current period presents a “golden opportunity” to bring about a radical change in the structure of the regime in Tehran. Sagiv Assoulin, a former Mossad official and researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Foreign and Security Affairs, said in an interview with Israel’s Channel 14 that the United States is “preparing to launch an attack on Iran.” He also asserted that “the fulcrum has fallen” within the regime and believes its collapse is only a matter of time. He predicted “stages of ups and downs” before the final collapse. However, he insisted that this will happen “by the end of Trump’s term, and this regime will not survive.”
Assouline added that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has placed the Iranian “axis of resistance” at the top of his priorities. He is also working in close coordination with the US administration to address the Iranian issue. The Israeli official pointed to an internal dimension related to the popular movement in Iran. He cited a post by former Iranian Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi on the X platform, in which Pahlavi called on Iranians to renew protests in the cities. Assouline described this call as a “shared objective” between a segment of the Israeli security establishment and Iranian opposition forces to increase popular pressure on the regime. Assouline concluded by saying that the convergence of external pressure, led by Washington and Tel Aviv, with the internal movement on the Iranian street could open the door to “historic moments” in the Middle East, provided the appropriate political and field conditions are met.
