Tripoli, Libya – In a move reflecting the Government of National Accord’s desire to deepen its ties with the new US administration, Prime Minister Abdelhamid Dbeibah received Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to US President Donald Trump,
and his accompanying delegation, which included Kyle Liston, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.
The meeting explored ways to strengthen the strategic partnership and open new investment opportunities in vital sectors.
The discussions focused on expanding economic cooperation, particularly in the energy sector.
Dbeibah emphasized that the partnership with Washington is translating
into practical steps through cooperation with major US companies such as ConocoPhillips and Chevron.
In addition, he mentioned anticipated projects in the fields of aviation, electricity, and infrastructure.
These projects will ensure the creation of significant investment opportunities within Libya.
US support for unifying the financial path
For his part, Advisor Mosaad Boulos praised the progress made in the “Unified Development Program Agreement” between the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, considering it a fundamental pillar for strengthening fiscal discipline and unifying spending channels.
In this context, Dbeibah appreciated the American support for this step.
He expressed his hope that the agreement would contribute to ending the “parallel spending” crisis
that has burdened the Libyan dinar and put pressure on macroeconomic balances.
On the security front, the Prime Minister commended the level of coordination
between the Ministry of Defense and the US Africa Command (AFRICOM).
He affirmed that this cooperation directly contributes to raising the efficiency of security coordination
and supporting the process of building Libyan military institutions within the framework of the state.
Thus, this will ensure the sustainability of stability in the region.
