Aden, Yemen – The commander-in-chief of the Second Giants Division and the Seventh Infantry Brigade, Sheikh Hamdi Shukri Al-Subaihi, survived a treacherous assassination attempt that targeted his convoy on Wednesday in the interim capital, Aden, which resulted in the martyrdom of two of his personal guards.
Details of the terrorist attack
Security sources and eyewitnesses reported that a car bomb parked on the side of the road in the Ja’awla area (north of the capital, Aden) exploded as the convoy of Commander Hamdi Shukri passed by. The powerful blast severely damaged several vehicles in the convoy. Medical and field sources confirmed that Commander Hamdi Shukri survived the attack and left the blast site unharmed. Two of his bodyguards, who were in a vehicle near the explosion, were killed, and several other bodyguards sustained injuries of varying severity and were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Security alert and pursuit of the perpetrators
Following the incident, security forces and the Giants Brigades completely cordoned off the Ja’awla area. Technical teams from Aden Security and the Criminal Investigation Department began collecting evidence and tracking down those responsible for this terrorist operation. Sheikh Hamdi Shukri is a prominent leader of the Giants Brigades and a tribal leader in Al-Subaiha. He has played a pivotal role on the battlefronts against the Houthi militia, in addition to his significant efforts in tribal mediation and establishing security in liberated areas.
