Gaza, Palestine – The Egyptian Relief Committee operating in the Gaza Strip announced the martyrdom of three Palestinian journalists following a direct Israeli attack on a committee vehicle while it was carrying out a humanitarian and media mission in the Netzarim area in the central Gaza Strip.
Mohammed Mansour, spokesperson for the Egyptian Relief Committee in Gaza, said that the targeted vehicle was carrying a team of journalists to document one of the committee’s camps, as part of its humanitarian relief activities in the area. He added that the attack was carried out directly despite the vehicle clearly displaying the Egyptian committee’s logo and its purely humanitarian work.
In televised remarks, Mansour explained that the journalists were performing their usual daily work of preparing and covering the largest shelter camps overseen by the committee in the Netzarim area. He confirmed that the Israeli occupation army targeted the vehicle from the air, resulting in the immediate martyrdom of those inside.
According to Palestinian media, the targeted vehicle was known to local authorities as belonging to the Egyptian Relief Committee and was being used by accredited journalists in an area with numerous camps for displaced persons. Palestinian medical sources reported that one of the victims arrived at the hospital with severe injuries resulting from the direct hit, which left him disfigured.
The sources identified the three journalists killed as Mohammed Salah Qashta, Abdul Raouf Samir Shaat, and Anas Ghoneim, noting that they were tasked with filming and documenting the humanitarian situation inside the camps as part of efforts to convey the reality on the ground.
This attack comes amidst escalating Israeli military operations in various parts of the Gaza Strip, and repeated warnings from human rights and media organizations about the dangers of targeting journalists and humanitarian workers, which constitutes a clear violation of international laws and conventions that guarantee the protection of civilians and media outlets during armed conflicts.
