Erbil, Kurdistan – Kurdistan Region President Masoud Barzani issued a statement on Tuesday expressing his deep concern over the recent developments in Syria, particularly in the Rojava region.
He stressed the need for all parties to exercise the utmost responsibility and avoid being swayed by emotion,
ensuring that civilians are not harmed, which he categorically rejected.
The statement read: “We are following the latest developments in Syria and Rojava closely and with great concern.
In these sensitive circumstances, all parties must act responsibly and without emotional bias.
Harm to our brothers and sisters in Rojava must be prevented, which is completely unacceptable in any way.”
We have intensified our efforts and continue to do everything in our power to prevent
our brothers and sisters in Rojava from suffering further tragedies and hardships.
We also emphasize that the risk of ISIS and terrorism resurfacing remains high given the current complex situation. This poses a very serious and imminent threat to the stability and security of the region.
Therefore, we call upon the international community and our allies to fulfill their responsibilities
and take immediate action to halt the tensions, fighting, and clashes.
We also demand a comprehensive ceasefire and the resolution of disputes
and problems through peaceful means and dialogue.
