Washington, DC – Bloomberg, citing informed sources, reported that US Special Envoy Steve Witkopf, accompanied by Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump, may make a visit to Moscow in the near future. The visit is reportedly aimed at a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to the sources, these moves come amid increasing informal, behind-the-scenes contacts. These contacts are intended to address a number of complex international issues, primarily the developments in the war in Ukraine. They also include the future of US-Russian relations, as well as security and economic issues of mutual priority.
Bloomberg noted that Witkopf has previously undertaken unconventional diplomatic roles through back channels. Jared Kushner, on the other hand, enjoys extensive connections within international decision-making circles. This gives the potential visit – if it takes place – particular political significance, despite its departure from official diplomatic channels.
There has been no official comment yet from the White House or the Kremlin regarding the visit or its agenda. At a time when the current international landscape imposes a great deal of secrecy and caution on such moves.
