Washington, DC – In a new escalation of the US administration’s stance on the developments in Iran, President Donald Trump delivered a direct and forceful message to Iranian protesters. He urged them to continue their popular movement and expand its scope to include seizing control of state institutions.
In a post on his social media platform, Trump described the protesters as “patriots.” He also called on them to document the identities and names of those involved in the repression and human rights abuses, asserting that these individuals “will pay a heavy price.”
Diplomatic freeze and promises of support
President Trump took a decisive procedural step by announcing the cancellation of all scheduled meetings and encounters with Iranian officials. He stipulated that this decision would only be reversed if Iran immediately ceased what he termed the “senseless killing” of protesters in the streets of Iran.
Trump did not limit himself to moral support; he also sent a striking signal, saying, “Help is on its way.” This raises questions about the nature of the anticipated American support, whether diplomatic, economic, or logistical.
A new slogan for the phase
Trump concluded his message with the slogan “MIGA” (Make Iran Great Again), a play on his famous “MAGA” slogan, reflecting his vision for a radical change in the Iranian political landscape. This stance comes at a time when several Iranian cities are witnessing widespread protests, which have been met with mixed international reactions. However, the American position remains the most forceful and unequivocal in supporting the protesters’ demands and threatening the authorities in Tehran with severe consequences.
