Amman, Jordan – The Jordanian Armed Forces – Arab Army announced Sunday morning that the Southern Military Region had thwarted an attempt to smuggle a quantity of narcotics transported by a drone. The drone attempted to cross the border on the Kingdom’s western front.
Details of the process
A responsible military source at the General Command of the Armed Forces stated that border guards, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, detected an attempt by a drone to infiltrate the area of responsibility of the Southern Military Region. The source added that the rules of engagement were immediately applied upon detection of the drone, resulting in its downing within Jordanian territory. After searching the area, the narcotics that were being smuggled were found. The seized items were handed over to the relevant authorities to take the necessary legal measures.
