Aden, Yemen – The Southern Transitional Council issued an important statement on Wednesday, revealing serious field and political developments. It announced that contact had been lost with its official delegation in the Saudi capital, coinciding with airstrikes that resulted in civilian casualties in the Al-Dhale’ province.
Uncertainty surrounds the fate of the “Riyadh delegation”
The Transitional Council expressed its deep concern over the inability to communicate with its delegation, which arrived in Riyadh late Tuesday night, headed by the Council’s Secretary-General, Sheikh Abdulrahman Shahir Al-Subaihi, to participate in the Conference on the Cause of the Southern People. The Council confirmed that no information is available regarding the delegation’s whereabouts, calling on the Saudi authorities to provide an urgent clarification and ensure their safety. It stressed the need for immediate contact, considering this a fundamental condition for any serious dialogue.
Al-Zubaidi is managing the situation
In response to rumors, the statement affirmed that President Leader Aidarus Qasim Al-Zubaidi continues to carry out his national duties from the capital, Aden. He directly supervises the work of military, security, and civilian institutions to ensure stability and maintain public order across all southern governorates.
Condemnation of airstrikes
The council condemned the Saudi-led airstrikes on areas in Al-Dhale’ province. It confirmed that the bombing resulted in civilian casualties, including women and children. The council described this act as a “regrettable escalation,” adding that it completely contradicts the climate of de-escalation and dialogue that the council seeks.
International demands and calls
The Council reiterated its conviction that dialogue is the best way to address just causes. However, it demanded an immediate halt to the unjustified Saudi airstrikes, the safety of the Council’s delegation in Riyadh, and the lifting of any restrictions on their communication.
The Transitional Council called on the international community and regional partners to intervene to stop these practices and ensure respect for international humanitarian law.
