Moscow, Russia – The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its air defense systems successfully intercepted and shot down 41 Ukrainian drones overnight over eight different Russian regions. This was described as a coordinated and large-scale attack.
In an official statement, the ministry said the Ukrainian drones were destroyed over various regions, including border and inland areas. No casualties were reported. The statement indicated that air defense units engaged the targets immediately upon their entry into Russian airspace.
The statement explained that the attack involved launching a large number of drones in close succession. The objective was to test and overwhelm Russian air defense capabilities. However, Russian forces successfully countered the drones using advanced detection and interception systems.
In the same context, local authorities in some of the targeted areas confirmed that the debris from the drones did not cause significant damage to infrastructure or vital facilities. They continued to raise the level of security alert in anticipation of any new attacks.
This development comes amid escalating tensions between Moscow and Kyiv. Ukraine has intensified its use of drones to target Russian territory, while Russia maintains that such attacks will not affect the course of military operations. They emphasized the readiness of their air defenses to deal with any potential threats.
