Moscow, Russia – China’s ambassador to Russia stated that US arms sales to Taiwan are a major factor complicating the situation and hindering prospects for peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait. He also warned of the repercussions for regional security.
In remarks carried by Russian media, the ambassador explained that Washington continues to supply Taipei with advanced weapons under various pretexts. He asserted that these policies encourage escalation and push towards confrontations with unpredictable consequences.
He emphasized that the Taiwan issue is an internal Chinese matter and that Beijing rejects any external interference that infringes upon its sovereignty and territorial integrity. He also called on the United States to adhere to the “One China” principle and cease what he described as irresponsible actions.
He added that China prefers peaceful solutions and dialogue, but at the same time, it will not stand idly by in the face of any attempts to impose a fait accompli in the Taiwan Strait or threaten its national security.
These statements come amid escalating tensions between Beijing and Washington over Taiwan. This occurs against the backdrop of continued US arms deals and escalating Chinese warnings about their impact on regional stability.
