Aden, Yemen – Yemeni sources reported on Friday that southern government forces repelled a ground attack launched by forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood on several fronts in Hadramawt Governorate, amid escalating military tensions in recent hours. The sources confirmed that the clashes thwarted the attempted advance. A state of alert remains in effect among the southern forces.

Meanwhile, Yemeni media reported that southern government forces made territorial gains toward the Al-Abr area, where forces loyal to the Muslim Brotherhood are concentrated. This advance is part of military operations aimed at securing roads and strategic locations, as well as preventing any breaches that threaten the security of the governorate.

Concurrently, activists circulated videos showing Saudi airstrikes targeting the 37th Brigade camp in Hadramawt. AFP quoted a senior official in the Southern Transitional Council (STC) as saying that Saudi airstrikes targeted one of the council’s camps, resulting in casualties.

For his part, Mohammed Abdul Malik, head of the STC in Wadi Hadramawt, stated that seven airstrikes targeted the forces’ camp in the Al-Khasha’a area. Casualties among the forces were confirmed, though precise numbers were not disclosed.

Meanwhile, Faraj al-Bahsani, Vice President of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen, warned of the serious repercussions of turning weapons inward. He asserted that any conflict within the areas liberated from the Houthis is unacceptable, as it leads to further chaos. Al-Bahsani emphasized that the rapidly evolving situation necessitates that everyone bear their national and historical responsibilities. A clear stance must be adopted, prioritizing the country’s best interests.

The Vice President stressed the need to reject any attempts to drag the south into internal conflicts. He also warned that such actions serve Yemen’s enemies, foremost among them the Houthi militia, as they undermine the prospects for stability and security in the liberated governorates.
