Hadhramaut, Yemen – The past few hours have witnessed the most dangerous military escalation in Hadhramaut Governorate, as the Southern Government Forces launched a preemptive operation to repel military movements directed by Rashad Al-Alimi to invade Wadi Hadhramaut, amid official calls from the leadership of the Transitional Council to declare general mobilization.
Bin Brik: The battle to protect the “oil pipelines”
Major General Ahmed Saeed bin Brik, Vice President of the Southern Transitional Council and former Governor of Hadramawt, issued an urgent appeal to the people of Hadramawt in the valley and the coast, calling on them to protect and support the “Hadrami Elite” forces and the Southern forces in the face of what he described as the “coming invasion.”
In a fiery statement, Bin Breik said, “Their goal is to regain control of the oil pipelines of Hadramawt and reoccupy the valley. You must cut off their arms and teach them lessons they will never forget.” He also called on the Southern leadership to declare a general mobilization of the southern people, asserting, “Victory is ours; we are the rightful owners of the land and its resources.”
Emergency Forces repelled in Khashm al-Ain
On the ground, military sources revealed that the southern government forces launched a preemptive offensive plan against the northern forces (known as the Emergency Forces led by Yasser Al-Ma’bari) that came from Marib with the aim of invading the Al-Khasha’a area.
The information confirmed that direct confrontations broke out in the “Khashm al-Ain” area (the western side of al-Khashaa), where the southern forces succeeded in intercepting and repelling the attacking forces before they reached the depths of the valley.
A rift has emerged within the attacking ranks.
In a significant development that further complicates the situation on the ground, multiple sources confirmed the withdrawal of the “Homeland Shield” forces and their refusal to participate in the operation alongside the emergency forces arriving from Marib. The sources indicated that this withdrawal weakened the attacking forces and exposed their flanks to the high level of preparedness of the southern forces.
Strategic importance
These clashes are taking place in the heart of oil-rich regions, where each side seeks to control strategic economic resources. Observers believe that the failure of this military offensive could lead to radical changes in the military and political landscape of Hadramawt Governorate in the coming days.
