Washington, D.C. – The United States is experiencing a sharp rise in flu cases as the holiday season begins. Cases have reached 4.6 million this season, a significant increase compared to previous years.
Health authorities attributed the surge to travel and group celebrations during the holiday period, which facilitated the rapid spread of the virus among different age groups, especially children and the elderly.
The most common symptoms among those infected are fever, cough, muscle aches, and general fatigue. Meanwhile, pharmacies and hospitals are experiencing increased demand for flu vaccines and antiviral medications.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) warned citizens against neglecting preventive measures, including handwashing and avoiding crowded places, to prevent the situation from worsening in the coming weeks, especially given the continued activity of the virus.
Experts stressed that early vaccination and adherence to health guidelines can reduce the spread of infection and protect those most vulnerable to complications.
