Istanbul, Turkey – Last night, anti-narcotics teams in Istanbul launched a large-scale security operation targeting organized crime hotspots in the entertainment and hotel sectors. The operation resulted in numerous arrests and the seizure of quantities of illicit substances and weapons.

Highlights
  • A preemptive strike under judicial instructions
  • Seized items and detainees
  • Charges and ongoing investigations

A preemptive strike under judicial instructions

Acting on direct instructions from the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, security teams conducted simultaneous raids at 34 different locations, ranging from vibrant neighborhoods in Istanbul to the province of Muğla. The operation specifically targeted four well-known entertainment venues and a hotel, which were being used as fronts for illegal activities.

Seized items and detainees

The official statement from the Attorney General’s office indicated that the raids resulted in the seizure of quantities of cocaine and Skunk, as well as equipment used to facilitate drug use.

Unlicensed firearms and ammunition were seized from the suspects. Seventeen suspects were arrested (14 on the main list and 3 others identified during the raids). Five of the wanted individuals were found to be outside the country.

Charges and ongoing investigations

The investigations extend beyond drug trafficking to include crimes of “inciting and facilitating prostitution.” The statement indicated that the targeted network employed sophisticated security measures. These measures made it difficult for authorities to track its activities or apprehend its members.

The prosecutor’s office confirmed that the investigation is currently being conducted in complete secrecy. Technical teams are continuing to examine the seized digital materials and physical equipment to uncover all possible extensions of this network and to identify any other suspects who may be involved in managing these websites.
