Minsk, Belarus – The Belarusian Defense Minister issued a stark warning about escalating military preparations in the West. He emphasized that what is happening on the ground cannot be dismissed as mere media statements or “empty words.” These are genuine indicators of preparations for a potential military confrontation.
The minister stated in official remarks that Belarus is closely monitoring Western military movements, particularly the increase in maneuvers and the deployment of troops and heavy equipment near the borders of Eastern European countries. He considered these steps to reflect an escalatory approach that threatens regional stability.
He added that his country, in coordination with its allies, is taking the necessary measures to strengthen its defense capabilities. He emphasized that Minsk is not seeking war. However, it will not ignore what he described as the “serious developments” unfolding on the international stage.
The Defense Minister noted that Western political rhetoric is accompanied by actual actions on the ground, forcing Belarus to treat the situation with the utmost seriousness. He warned that continuing this approach could lead to an escalation with unforeseen consequences.
He emphasized that his country calls for de-escalation and dialogue. However, it will continue to prepare to protect its sovereignty and national security during what he described as a highly sensitive international period. This period requires caution and vigilance.
