Tehran, Iran – The commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s aviation protection unit announced the thwarting of a security attempt targeting a flight bound for the holy city of Mashhad last November. He confirmed that the flight landed safely thanks to the vigilance and swift intervention of security forces.
The official explained during a press conference that security forces were able to identify an individual who intended to disarm the head of the flight’s security team and take hostages on board the aircraft. He added that the situation was contained in record time without any injuries or damage.
The commander of the aviation security unit stated that, relying on precise intelligence and extensive operational experience, the unit’s personnel successfully neutralized the threat completely. This enabled the aircraft to land safely at Mashhad Airport.
In a related context, he noted that some threats related to bombing attempts had been detected in recent days. He confirmed that all of them had been thwarted through preventative measures and strict security controls implemented by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard’s aviation protection forces. He explained that the level of flight security in the country is now reassuring.
