Islamabad, Pakistan – The Pakistan army announced that at least nine militants were killed in two security operations in the Dera Ismail Khan and Bannu districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistani security forces also recovered some weapons from the militants
The Pakistani military’s public relations office stated in a press release
that security forces clashed with militants.
This occurred in the Dera Ismail Khan area on the night of Friday, December 19. Four militants were killed in the clash.
Foreign strife group
The Pakistani military described these militants as “an external sedition group affiliated with India”.
The Pakistani government had previously announced its recognition
of the members of the Pakistani Taliban as an “external sedition group”.
The press release stated that security forces simultaneously killed five other members.
This is from the group in a separate operation in the Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Pakistan… and the failure of talks
The operation shows that Islamabad is facing a continuous wave of armed attacks.
Talks between Islamabad and the Taliban administration to curb these attacks have failed.
Field Marshal Asim Munir, the newly formed commander-in-chief of the Pakistani armed forces,
continued his criticism of the Afghan Taliban movement.
Claiming that 70% of the Taliban movement’s members are Afghan militants.
He reminded the Afghan Taliban once again that they must choose
between Pakistan and the Pakistani Taliban.
