Cairo, Egypt – The Ministry of Interior issued Ministerial Decree No. 79 of 2025, which stipulates the withdrawal of Egyptian citizenship from the famous content creator Ali Hassan.
This decision was published in issue number (51) of the Official Gazette issued on December 18, 2025;
This is a result of violating the laws regulating nationality and obligations related to national military service.
Legal and constitutional justifications
In fact, the decision was based on the provisions of Law No. 26 of 1975,
Which explicitly prohibits an Egyptian citizen from joining the military service
in a foreign country without obtaining prior permission from the Ministry of Defense.
Accordingly, the decision stated that Ali Hassan (born in 1991) had actually joined
a foreign army without permission;
This necessitated the revocation of his citizenship in accordance
with the Egyptian constitution and law.
Joining the U.S. National Guard
Moreover, social media platforms had been abuzz earlier.
The blogger announced his joining the North Carolina National Guard (NCNG).
Since this military force is an integral part of the U.S. military and participates
in federal missions and foreign military operations,
Egyptian law considered this action to be in conflict with loyalty to the mother country,
especially since the tasks included NATO training.
Enforcement of the decision
For its part, the official gazette confirmed that the decision had entered
into force immediately upon its issuance,
with notification to all concerned parties to begin the administrative procedures resulting from it.
Therefore, this measure emphasizes the state’s strictness in dealing with citizenship files,
especially with regard to obligations towards military and sovereign institutions.
Conclusion and reminder of the laws
In conclusion, this decision represents a clear message to all those holding Egyptian nationality
about the need to adhere to legal procedures when joining any foreign official bodies.
As the state is keen to protect its national security, it continues to pursue
any violations that affect the provisions of the Nationality Law.
This ensures the stability of the country’s legal and sovereign system.
