Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates – His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, affirmed that the tourism sector in the UAE continues to achieve exceptional leaps;
Hotel revenues reached AED 89 billion during the first ten months of this year.
This is supported by a massive infrastructure comprising 1,243 hotel facilities providing more than 216,000 rooms for visitors from around the world.
Global leadership in occupancy rates
In exclusive statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM),
His Excellency explained that hotel occupancy rates in the country reached 79.3%.
This percentage is higher than the
one recorded last year (78%).
This places the UAE at the forefront of the most busiest tourist
destinations both regionally and globally.
This reflects the success of national strategies in transforming tourism
into a key pillar of sustainable economic diversification.

Economic ambitions: around 17% of GDP
Furthermore, the minister highlighted the pivotal role of the sector in the macroeconomy;
Tourism contributed 13% to the GDP last year, with a value equivalent to 257.3 billion dirhams.
In a related context, Al-Marri revealed an ambitious plan to raise
this contribution to 17% over the next five years.
Especially since the sector currently provides more than 920,000 jobs,
driven by continuous growth in the aviation and tourism investment sectors.
“The Most Beautiful Winter”: Leadership and Innovation
In conjunction with the launch of the sixth edition of the “Most Beautiful Winter
in the World” campaign under the slogan “Our Winter is Leadership”,
His Excellency pointed out that the campaign aims to revitalize
domestic tourism and link it to entrepreneurship.
It is noteworthy that projections indicate the current version
will generate revenues exceeding two billion dirhams.
Compared to just one billion dirhams in its first edition,
This confirms the rapid development in providing innovative tourism products
that suit the UAE’s status as a global capital for entrepreneurs.

Growing investments and advanced infrastructure
In conclusion, the report indicated that the UAE’s tourist appeal is based
on a solid foundation of airports, roads, and outstanding destinations.
Consequently, tourism investments have witnessed steady growth,
jumping from AED 28.8 billion in 2023.
