Damascus, Syria – The Syrian Ministry of Interior announced today that the Internal Security Directorate in the Zabadani area of Rif Dimashq Governorate thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of weapons. The weapons were en route to Lebanese territory.

The ministry stated via its official Telegram channel that the operation was carried out following meticulous security surveillance and intensive monitoring of the smugglers’ movements. Based on intelligence information, security forces executed a well-planned ambush in the border town of Serghaya.
The raid resulted in the seizure of a massive weapons shipment, including large quantities of RPG rounds. It also contained materials and equipment that had been professionally and systematically concealed to facilitate their smuggling across the border.
