Aden, Yemen – Mohammed Al-Naqeeb, the official spokesman for the Southern Armed Forces,

Highlights
  • Fortifying cities and cutting off infiltration routes
  • Wadi Sir: The biggest security challenge
  • Combat experience and a proven track record

announced that the valiant military units, foremost among them the Hadrami Elite Forces,

are continuing at an accelerated pace to implement Operation “Promising Future”.

This comes with broad popular support aimed at consolidating security

and stability in the Wadi and desert regions of Hadramawt.

Fortifying cities and cutting off infiltration routes

In the context of this operation, the Hadrami elite forces,

represented by the “Barshid Brigade”, carried out a large-scale deployment operation;

This is with the aim of fortifying the cities of Wadi Hadramawt and protecting

them from the dangers of infiltration by elements of the Al-Qaeda terrorist organization.

Field efforts are currently focused against the elements entrenched

in the strategic “Wadi Sar” area, located north of the Al-Qatan and Shibam districts.

Wadi Sir: The biggest security challenge

For his part, the captain indicated that “Wadi Sir” currently represents

one of the most dangerous strongholds of Al-Qaeda,

It poses a threat similar to what Wadi Awmran in Abyan

and Wadi Al-Masini on the coast used to pose.

The organization chose this location because of its complex topography,

which combines mountains, plateaus, and vast agricultural plains.

Furthermore, the spokesperson confirmed that the organization

benefited from the cover provided by the Muslim Brotherhood.

Through the influence of the “First Military Region,” which he described

as having “remained for decades a safe haven for these elements.”

Combat experience and a proven track record

It is worth noting that the units participating in the current deployment

are veteran units with extensive experience in guerrilla warfare and counter-terrorism.

These forces have previously fought notable battles, the most prominent

of which was Operation “Al-Faisal” in February 2018.

Which targeted the organization’s hideouts in Wadi al-Masini

with direct support from the UAE forces within the Arab coalition.

This gives the current operation military momentum

and accumulated field experience to decide the battle.
