Doha, Qatar – The UAE national team eliminated Algeria from the Arab Cup quarterfinals after winning 7-6 on penalties. This followed a 1-1 draw after extra time.
The UAE national team met Algeria at Al Bayt Stadium in Qatar, as part of the quarter-final round of the Arab Cup tournament.
Algeria took the lead in the 46th minute through Adel Boulbia, before the UAE equalized in the 64th minute through Bruno Oliveira.
The match remained exciting and competitive until the final moments, before ending in a 1-1 draw, forcing extra time which also ended without a change in the score.
With the tie still in place, the match went to penalties, which the “White” team won with a score of (7-6), thus securing their place in the semi-finals and setting up a meeting with Morocco.
The Moroccan national team had qualified for the same round after defeating Syria by one goal to nil.
