Seoul, South Korea – South Korea’s Ministry of National Defense lodged a “strong protest” through diplomatic channels with both China and Russia on Wednesday, December 10, regarding the entry of military aircraft from both countries into the Korea Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) the previous day.
The Ministry of National Defense announced that Lee Kwang-seok, the ministry’s director-general for international policy, summoned both the Chinese and Russian defense attachés in Korea this morning to formally protest the incursion.
The Ministry of National Defense confirmed in a statement that it would take firm measures. It said: “Our military will actively respond to the activities of aircraft from neighboring countries in the Combined Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) in accordance with international law.”
