Damascus, Syria – The Syrian News Agency reported on Tuesday evening that three shells of unknown origin targeted the vicinity of the Mezzeh military airport in the capital, Damascus.
The agency quoted a Syrian military source as saying: “The vicinity of Mezzeh military airport in Damascus was targeted by 3 shells of unknown origin. This occurred without any casualties or material damage.”
The source confirmed that authorities have deployed around Mezzeh military airport and launched an investigation to determine the source of the shelling.
Earlier, SANA reported hearing explosions in the Mezzeh area of Damascus, noting that authorities were investigating their nature.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that its activists in the Syrian capital heard explosions. These explosions were caused by shells falling in the vicinity of Mezzeh military airport, west of Damascus.
The Observatory noted that the explosions coincided with the sound of police and ambulance sirens on the Mezzeh highway. No confirmed information has yet been received regarding casualties or the nature of the attack.
