Tegucigalpa, Honduras – Honduran judicial authorities have submitted a formal request to Interpol for a red notice to be issued against a former president of the country.
This comes in light of serious accusations of financial corruption, money laundering,
and abuse of power during his time in office.
Judicial sources announced that the case involves suspicions of transferring huge
sums of money to foreign accounts through illicit means.
They added that there is also involvement in suspicious deals concluded
with domestic and foreign entities.
This has resulted in widespread squandering of public funds.
Authorities explained that the request to Interpol is part of the government’s efforts
to track down former officials involved in major corruption cases.
They affirmed that the pursuit of the accused will continue until the funds are recovered
and all those involved are held accountable.
The request for an Interpol Red Notice is expected to open the door
to international action to locate the former president.
The goal is to bring him to justice. This comes at a time when Honduras is undergoing
a broad campaign to combat corruption and restore confidence in its judicial and security institutions.
Official sources confirmed that authorities will continue coordinating
with international partners to ensure that no official escapes legal accountability.
This is considered one of the largest anti-corruption cases the country has seen in recent years.
