Kuwait – The official gazette in Kuwait announced the issuance of an Emiri decree revoking the Kuwaiti citizenship of preacher Tariq Mohammed Al-Saleh Al-Suwaidan. The decree was signed by the Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, based on a proposal from the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. It also received the approval of the Council of Ministers.
The decision stipulates the withdrawal of citizenship from Al-Suwaidan and all those who acquired it through him. The decree did not specify the legal article upon which it was based. However, Kuwaiti law permits the withdrawal of citizenship in cases such as fraud in the naturalization application. Crimes that threaten state security or the public interest can also be committed.
This decision is part of the procedures adopted by Kuwait in reviewing citizenship files and strengthening compliance with legal controls.
