Indiana, USA – A widespread snowstorm sweeping across parts of the United States on Monday caused a massive pileup involving more than 40 vehicles in Indiana. This resulted in the closure of a major highway for more than six hours.
US media reported that heavy snowfall in the Midwest led to the cancellation of hundreds of flights and caused a series of traffic accidents.

The massive collision occurred in Putnamville, Indiana, on Interstate 70. It happened at the height of the traffic congestion following the Thanksgiving holiday.
Indiana State Police announced that poor weather conditions and heavy snowfall led to a series of collisions involving 45 vehicles at once.
Authorities confirmed that the accident resulted in no serious injuries to passengers or drivers. The highway was temporarily closed to remove the damaged vehicles and reopen to traffic.
Hundreds of flights cancelled
In a related context, the severe weather conditions accompanying the storm led to the cancellation of more than 1,400 flights across the United States on Saturday.
According to data from FlightAware, a website specializing in tracking flight activity, the majority of cancellations were related to the storm. This storm is currently impacting the northwestern United States.
