Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian club Zamalek fell into the trap of a draw against their South African host Kaizer Chiefs, with each team scoring one goal, in the match that brought them together today in the African Confederation Cup.
Zamalek met Kaizer Chiefs at Peter Mokaba Stadium, as part of the second round of the Confederation Cup.
The match started evenly from both sides, with Zamalek having a noticeable advantage. The Egyptian team succeeded in scoring the first goal in the third minute, through Seifeddine Jaziri.
The goal came after a powerful shot from inside the penalty area that found the back of the net, following a cross from Bezerra from a direct free kick, which he successfully followed up and scored a goal.
Seif Jaziri also scored a second goal in the tenth minute, but it was disallowed for offside.
The match remained a back-and-forth affair until Kaizer Chiefs snatched a last-gasp goal in the 96th minute, following a glaring error by Mohamed Sobhi. A cross from a Kaizer Chiefs player was mishandled by Sobhi, allowing the ball to slip into the net.
With that result, Zamalek raised its tally to 4 points in second place, while Kaizer Chiefs came in third place with a single point.
