Beijing, China – China stressed the importance of adopting a genuine multilateral approach to the issue of chemical weapons prohibition. It emphasized that the international system governing this issue must be based on transparency, equality, and the depoliticization of technical matters.
Beijing said that unilateral or selective application of the ban mechanisms jeopardizes the credibility of the international system. It also undermines collective efforts to prevent the proliferation of chemical weapons and ensure they are not used.
She explained that cooperation between countries, open dialogue, and strengthening the role of relevant international organizations are the best ways to maintain global security. This approach prevents the return of these prohibited weapons to conflict zones.
