Cairo, Egypt – The Egyptian Ministry of Interior confirmed that it is continuing its efforts to secure the 2025 House of Representatives elections in the second phase, while implementing strict measures against any attempts to disrupt the electoral process or influence the will of the voters, whether inside the committees or through social media.

Exposing attempts to buy votes and distribute prohibited propaganda
Security services have detected several reports and videos circulating online regarding electoral violations in various governorates. The most prominent incident occurred in El-Mahalla El-Kubra, Gharbia Governorate, where three men and a woman were apprehended in possession of cash and national identity cards intended to influence citizens’ votes in favor of independent candidates and a candidate from a political party. Legal procedures have been initiated, and the National Elections Authority has been notified.
Security forces also arrested four other people in Qutur Center in Gharbia who were in possession of sums of money prepared to be distributed to voters, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution.
Dealing with rumors and investigating circulated videos
The Egyptian Ministry of Interior emphasized its close monitoring of all videos circulating on social media that aim to distort the elections or incite unrest. It clarified that some of these videos were accompanied by false claims, lacking any official supporting reports.
Controlling fights and personal disputes near the committees
Ain Shams – Cairo: A suspect was arrested for assaulting employees of an association, believing it to be affiliated with a rival candidate.
Al-Zawya Al-Hamra – Cairo: A fight broke out between the brother of a candidate and others, ending with the arrest of the parties involved after an exchange of accusations.
Dar es Salaam – Cairo: Investigations into a dispute between candidates following mutual accusations of influencing voters.
Dealing with an individual incident in Daqahliya
Security forces arrested a man who threw a bottle containing a flammable substance near a polling station in Nabaroh, Dakahlia Governorate. It was revealed that he had previously undergone psychiatric treatment. The Ministry confirmed that there was no criminal or political motive behind the arrest.
Banned advertising seized in Qalyubia
Security forces arrested two people in possession of promotional identification cards intended for distribution to voters near an election committee in Cairo, and legal measures were taken.

The elections will take place over two days, Monday and Tuesday, from 9 am to 9 pm, with a one-hour break from 3 pm to 4 pm.

125 candidates in Menoufia

253 candidates in the Eastern Province

20 candidates in Port Said
36 candidates in Ismailia
18 candidates in Suez
15 candidates in South Sinai
12 candidates in North Sinai
The National List for Egypt is also competing in two constituencies with lists comprising 40 and 102 candidates, for a total of 142 seats allocated to the list system.
