Severe floods have swept through several Malaysian states in recent hours, causing widespread disruption to residents’ lives and displacing thousands of families from their homes.

An estimated 11,000 people have been affected as floodwaters continue to rise and spread across seven different states.

Malaysian authorities are implementing comprehensive emergency plans to evacuate those affected. The government is working to secure emergency shelters amid warnings of continued rainfall. The situation could worsen in the coming hours.
