Washington, DC – The US State Department has formally approved a $100 million sale of military communications systems to Iraq. This move is part of Washington’s efforts to bolster the capabilities of Iraqi forces and strengthen security cooperation between the two countries.
The deal includes supplying Iraq with advanced communications systems that will allow for greater connectivity between military units. It will also improve information sharing in field operations, as well as provide technical support equipment, maintenance, and training for relevant personnel.
The US State Department confirmed that this type of support aims to enhance Iraq’s stability and counter security threats. Baghdad, meanwhile, considered the deal a significant boost to modernizing its defense capabilities in accordance with international standards.
This approval comes at a time of significant increased military cooperation between the two countries. Iraq is keen to develop the technological infrastructure of its armed forces and enhance their capabilities in surveillance, communication, and command.
