Cairo, Egypt – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty held a telephone conversation on Saturday, November 15, 2025, with Hussein al-Sheikh, Vice President of the State of Palestine. This came within the framework of ongoing coordination and consultation between the two sides regarding developments in Palestine and efforts to solidify and ensure the implementation of the Sharm el-Sheikh Peace Agreement.
During the call, they discussed the ongoing consultations regarding the draft resolution to be submitted to the UN Security Council concerning developments in Gaza and security arrangements. Both sides emphasized the importance of the resolution contributing to a lasting end to the war and creating the conditions for a just and comprehensive peace that fulfills the aspirations of the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister referred to the statement issued on November 14, which reflected Egypt’s support for the adoption of the draft resolution. He emphasized the regional and international consensus on moving forward with the implementation of the Sharm El-Sheikh Peace Plan. The plan provides a practical path for Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of a Palestinian state, thereby enhancing peace and stability throughout the region.
During the call, Abdel-Aati also reviewed the ongoing preparations for the international conference on early recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. He emphasized the importance of mobilizing regional and international support to ensure the effective implementation of the recovery and reconstruction plan. Both sides agreed to continue close consultations and coordination in the coming period, in support of the rights of the Palestinian people and efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace.
