Moscow, Russia – The Russian Defense Ministry announced a large-scale strike against Ukrainian military positions. Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were used in a new escalation between the two countries amid ongoing military operations on the eastern front.
According to the Russian statement, the strike targeted sensitive military installations, including command centers, air traffic control sites, and defense industry facilities. Additionally, military airfields believed to be supporting Ukrainian combat operations were also targeted.
Moscow confirmed that the use of Kinzhal missiles is part of a long-range precision strike strategy, given the missiles’ ability to penetrate air defense systems and fly at speeds exceeding ten times the speed of sound.
In contrast, Ukrainian forces said they shot down some of the missiles and drones involved in the attack. However, they did not disclose the extent of the losses or the final damage, amid conflicting estimates from both sides.
This strike signals a new escalation in the fighting. Russia is increasingly relying on precision-guided weapons to target Ukrainian military infrastructure, while Kyiv continues to bolster its air defenses.
