Kyiv, Ukraine – The Ukrainian Air Force announced that its air defenses successfully repelled a large-scale Russian nighttime attack. They managed to shoot down 90 out of 121 drones used by Russia in the attacks.
This announcement came in a statement published by the Air Force on the Telegram app, confirming its continued efforts to counter repeated waves of air attacks.
One security officer killed and attacks intensified
In a related development, Oleksandr Bertsovsky, head of the transport department in Okhrezaleznitsia, confirmed that the attack resulted in the death of a paramilitary officer. This occurred while he was guarding an infrastructure facility, which was subsequently targeted by a Russian drone strike.
Zelensky announces technology development
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky commented on the X website, praising the efforts of the air defense forces who “work almost every night to repel Russian attacks.”
Zelensky noted that the success of drone interception operations is increasing significantly. More than 150 drones have been intercepted since the beginning of this month, including those shot down last night.
The Ukrainian president affirmed that Kyiv “will continue to develop its drone interceptor technology and train its crews.”
Zelensky concluded his remarks by emphasizing the need to intensify cooperation with international partners. He stated that “joint production and financing” will allow them to move forward “more quickly.” He accompanied his remarks with a video of the operations, thanking “everyone who supports this effort.”
