Tel Aviv, Israel – Israeli authorities announced the transfer of the remains of one of the hostages to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Tel Aviv. This followed a complex field operation carried out by the army inside the Gaza Strip.
Hebrew media reported that the remains were transferred under heavy security to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. Forensic experts have begun DNA testing to confirm the identity.
An Israeli military spokesman said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to search for those missing since the October 7 attack. He declined to provide details of the operation or the location where the remains were found.
The move comes amid growing anger within Israel as families of hostages increasingly demand the return of their loved ones, dead or alive. Meanwhile, political calls continue for a resumption of negotiations for a new prisoner exchange deal with Palestinian factions.
